Open-air theatre - The Scheldt Offensive | PIEDESTAL

In “PIEDESTAL”, seven Pulcinellas go in search of something greater. Some claim that it is in the ground, in the air, or slumbering in the throat. Until it becomes clear that this something greater may be intangible...

A singing emptiness, an unfinished laugh, a dancing shadow...? “PIEDESTAL” is an enchanting and inclusive performance at the intersection of theatre and circus.

PIEDESTAL is an enchanting and inclusive performance at the intersection of theatre and circus.

Seven Pulcinellas take centre stage: the first without arms, the second without eyes, the third without legs, the fourth without a voice, the fifth without a nose, the sixth without ears, and the seventh without a heart. Together they try to build a structure, but their various limitations constantly get in the way, bringing the project to a standstill. Eventually, the pulcinella without a heart decides to take a leap and climb towards the elusive ideal. At first, no one dares to follow her, until the least acrobatic of the group, driven by pure willpower, climbs up without hesitation.

“PIEDESTAL” explores the tension between ambition and acceptance, a search for balance between limitation and infinite possibilities.
